This is the first paragraph of your story. In traditional publishing, the opening paragraph skips the indent to create a clean visual anchor right below the headline or subsection title.
This is the second paragraph. Because it follows another paragraph, the stylesheet automatically applies a standard typographic indent to the first line, allowing the reader to transition smoothly between ideas without needing heavy gaps of blank vertical space.

When formatting text like a newspaper or an old classic novel, small details like the ink color matter. Pure black text on a blinding white background causes eye strain over long periods. A slightly off-black hue against a warm, paper-toned backdrop mimics the natural absorption of ink on fiber.
